I will elaborate somewhat on what Aaron mentioned here.

Kolab is an open source groupware package. What Kolab is composed of are many
open source software packages working together (apache, postfix, openldap,
php, procmail, proftd, imapd ... etc.).

How Kolab is setup is also kind of interesting. You end up with your own
little Kolab world. Kolab has it's own version of "everything" installed.
This goes right down to it's own RPM database with it's own versions of make,
patch, gcc, perl, many others, and the custom packages I mentioned earlier.
I have set it up to run a separate version of apache, so it will not conflict
with the webserver already running.

I (we), installed kolab from it's source rpms. This proved to be somewhat
tricky as the QIM (quick install manual) contained incorrect information, and
because the kolab project is still in it's infancy, documention, and help is
not overly available.

To a non-developer, some of the issues that I came across (such as incorrect
build options on apache, which caused me to start manually compiling the
RPM/SRC directory, and playing with Makefiles, and tracking down the issues,
and modify the spec files to get it to work), may be overwhelming.

As the community grows, so does support for ready to use binaries, and the
like. I however now have a working set of rpms for Fedora Core 1. :-D As
Aaron mentione Mandrake has available packages ... and SuSE will follow suit
shortly I am sure.

I agreed with Aaron that a demonstration sometime would be an excellent idea.
This is a superb project, and it will only get better with a greater
following.

Just in case it is not apparent in Aarons original post.
