No, don't delete anything under /dev. What exactly are you trying to do here?
You can safely delete the mount point (eg. /mnt/hdd) assuming you are not
planning on mounting anything else there. You can also remove the entry in
/etc/fstab, and you can delete the link on your desktop. Or you could just leave
everything if you are planning on putting the drive back in.

Ok, that worked. I feel fairly foolish now. :) I removed the second hd
as it was starting to die. I had plenty of room on the first one, so i
just moved everything over and unmounted the drive. i guess i forgot to
edit fstab. *feeling sheepish*
