The only time linux ever locked up on me was because of a hardware failure.
The only time linux ever refused to boot was because I mis-configured it.
This with uptimes of months vs. hours. Ive had windows lock up on me
overnight because apparently the screen saver was a bit too much for a
2GHz/512MB RAM under windows. I also know of it locking up when a game was
left paused while my buddy ate supper. It was a fully patched relatively new
XP install. It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetically sad.

Im not saying linux is good because windows sucks. Im saying linux is good and
windows does suck, regardless of comparison. However, comparing the two is
night and day.

Windows has been reduced to a gaming OS. Once linux gets a big enough market
and more companies start releasing linux binaries, MS is in deep

as for your fstab overwrite [in a different mail, same thread], etc-update
asks you what to do with anything other than _very_ trivial changes. If it
overwrote your fstab, it was probably your fault :) that's not meant as a
put-down, Ive just come to realize with linux that when something goes wrong
with software marked 'stable' its probably PEBCAK.
