Yes, you can d/l a boot disk and to an ftp upgrade. Your other option is to use apt. People have upgraded suse with apt before. You might want to back up your data though. I have successfuly updated RedHat 9.0 to Fedora Core 1.0 with apt, and updated Slackware 9.1 to Slackware 10.0 with slapt-get.
