Microsoft's logic is truly impeccable:

1. Design a new product offering to only be sold in the region of the world with the most software piracy.
2. Reason that, since Linux is free (as in beer), people will prefer a low-cost version of Windows, especially if it's even worse than the regular version of Windows.


This would make more sense if there was a hobbled version of Windows that was free, or if they lowered the price on the full-featured edition. The fact is that Linux, for many things, is superior to the full version of XP, so a hobbled version of an already hobbled operating system is not going to be successful. Of course, it's a moot point considering that most people are going to just pirate the Home or Professional edition.

I can't believe Microsoft continues to make money despite poor decision making like this.
