a few extra things....this is in Gentoo...

modify /etc/cups/mime.types and /etc/cups/mime.convs. In both, uncomment the 
application/octet-streams lines towards the bottom. Install the printer as 
described above with the native Windows drivers. Beauty, you're a genius :D
