I was just thinking about where might be a good start for you to learn programming and I wonder:
Are you already familiar with:
--functions?
--control structures (if/else, switch, for)
--data types (int, string, float)
--classes vs. objects
If so, you may want to try looking at some of the interesting PHP examples at:
http://www.devshed.com/c/b/PHP/
Often by looking at some examples you can see how the language is used.
If you're less clear about the aforementioned subjects, let me know and I'll see if I can look up some stuff for you...

Hi All,
Thanks for the opinions and ideas on a programming language. It would seem
that PHP is quite popular (in this group at least) and that it does have a
lot to lend itself to what I see myself doing down the way.
I will have to do a little more digging to find some excellent resources and
some possible books or something to pick up. Maybe I will have to drop-in
at the Prog-Sig ones of these days.
