I found a workaround searching archived mailing lists using Google:

text/html => Remove existing entries from Application Preference Order => Add
button => kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing %u

It's still a weird problem, because the Embedding tab => Left Click Action =>
is 'Show file in embedded viewer' and the first entry in the list is KHTML
(as it should be). Apparently the Embedding tab setting is not taking effect
anymore.

Dunno what happened to cause this, but hopefully KDE 3.3.0 magically irons out
my wrinkle. ;-P
