I don't do backups and I haven't had a proble....... damn just jinxed myself.

Yes it would have been better to make the backup before the crash but
at this point you are best to save as much as you can while you still
can.

1.  Do you have a network connection where you can dump your data to
another computer - This is by far the least painful way.

2.  Get a knoppix cd, slax cd or which ever Live-CD distro you like
and you can use a tool called partimage.  It is very similar to Norton
Ghost and if you have the HDD space, CD-Rs or DVD-Rs you can build an
image and restore it to a good media and extract what you need.

The second way makes sure you get as much as you can.  The first you
can select the files you need but missing files might be an issue.

Good luck in recovering your data.

Excuse me while I get ready to backup my data... thx for the warning. ;P
