I basically agree with everything here, except I must have missed in making my point. There IS a cost different. Not between PATA and all SATA, but NCQ will cost alot more. Memory Express currently shows: Western Digital 250Gig Caviar (Without NCQ) selling at $289. or, Western Digital 74.8Gig Raptor (With NCQ) also selling at $289. this is more than 3x the cost per gig. Granted, the Raptor is a better & faster drive, but right now, if I want NCQ, I pay WAY more, and sacrifice size as well. There is a cost difference between NCQ and non-NCQ drives. Be they SCSI or SATA. If I wanted a TB in my box, I'd also need another card to support the ~13 Raptors. With the Caviars, I'd be able to do it with the onboard controllers. Perhaps other manufacturers are different, but this is what I saw...
