Hard Data Ltd. is looking to engage a technician in the Calgary area to service, repair, and provide support on computers running Linux in the greater Calgary area.
The majority of the equipment is in academic and business settings, and is mainly comprised of servers, clusters, and workstations.
The position is for occasional work, and is not full time.
Skills required involve the ability to perform hardware services, including failure diagnosis, component replacement, and to laiason with our main office in Edmonton for service requests, scheduling, shipping and receiving of replacements, and related tasks.
General Linux knowledge is a requirement, however advanced skills will not likely be needed.
As this is not a full time position, we would prefer to engage a tech with the ability to act as a subcontractor, and to provide services on request, and invoice for the work performed.
Work will include "on demand" requests from customers, upgrades, hardware maintenance, both scheduled and ad hoc.
Personal transportation would be an asset.
