I don't see it as a problem at all.  Any reasonable sales person will let
you try stuff.  You are not breaking anything.  If you have hacker written
on your forehead then I bet they will not even let you even touch the
keyboard.  (There are more ways to break windows than by inserting a CD)

If you look like a reasonable person who wants to test out the thing you are
buying then you will not have problems.

... If you look scary they will be scared of you ...
... Customer is always right ...
