Hi gang. One of the issues I see coming out of the ongoing discussion, are as follows:
1) what presentations are wanted? 2) who is capable of presenting the selected topic 3) who is capable of handling an "activity center"? (should we choose to use the social model for meetings) 4) does anyone WANT to do a presentation, but has never been asked, or feel they are capable? I believe the answers to these questions may help with other decisions (well, maybe not right away, but long term). So, I'd like to propose a VOLUNTARY membership survey be set up on the CLUG web site. This survey would ask questions with the aim of determining areas of experience, and desire/willingness to do a presentation, or run an "activity center". Maybe even go so far as to make the survey anonymous, but allow an option to specify a name for those who are willing to do presentations. The intent would be to gauge the overall expertise of the group (or at least those who do the survey), and areas we (as a group) should maybe focus on more in terms of the presentations. We have a webserver to put this on, and we have the expertise to create a simple web form, and collect the results. Or maybe even have it set up as a text file where you can fill in your answers, then email the results to the executive? I've been known to have some bad ideas before, so I freely admit this one may not be so good. But what are your thoughts on this? Is anyone willing to take the time to create such a survey? (I might be able to...)
