Hey Group,

I spoke with a gentleman on Saturday on the phone while I was at the
InstallFest and he was making an enquiry about whether Calgary had any
companies that dealt with Linux support. I asked him to send me more details
on what he was after and I have included it below. If anyone can help him
please email me off-list and I will send him your contact information (if
that's okay with you). It may not be a Linux support issue at all but rather
a hardware problem.

Hello;

Just talked to you on the phone about on site Linux support in Calgary. This
would be for my mom. I can manage her computer from Vancouver for most
things, but hardware related problems are another matter.

Currently she's having a problem with her printer not printing. It's possible
the thing is just dead. On the software side, everything looks fine
(Mandrake using cups), and she's checked cable connections so it doesn't
sound like one of those 'doh!' type problems, though... Very bright lady, but
possessing the sort of computerphobia sometimes that causes iq to diminish by
about 50%. Some might suggest she should be using windows, but it really
doesn't matter what she uses, it wouldn't change the underlying attitude.
For how she uses her computer she might as well be using something stable
and secure.

I suppose she could just pick up a cheap printer for testing purposes to rule
out dead hardware, but even for future reference it would be great if there
was a company with Linux expertise that made house calls.

Or alternatively a regular linux geek who wanted to pick up $50 or whatever
seemed reasonable for a house call might do as well. The advantage of a
company would be continuity, but for a specific problem it doesn't really
matter as long as it gets fixed.

If you can put me on to any leads that would be great. Thanks.
