Sorry, but I respectfully disagree: Dialog does not suck.
Open dialog is a good thing, especially in a community where "open" is generally a positive thing.
The expression of a bit of passion is not a bad thing if it can avoid name-calling.
Being told to "drop it" in mid conversation is not a good thing.
Clamming up in mid conversation is not a good thing.
Taking things too personally in a discussion is a bad thing.
Re-phrasing comments, which have been misunderstood during a conversation, is a really good thing.
Amending or changing one's position, because of legitimate points having been made during a discussion is a very good thing.
To me, the presence of discussion means you're not forking the group, but the group is still finding it's collective way. And that's "a good thing"(TM) :)
