Personally, I think the point of a UPS is to keep them up long enough for them to do an orderly shutdown, not to keep them up until the power comes back. If I unplug the UPS from the wall socket, and the UPS tells the attached systems to shutdown gracefully, that's all I expect of it. -- Any technology distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced.
