Take a look at Astaro Security Linux (http://www.astaro.com). It is free for home use, some nag registration required.
I cant recall if it handles BGP right now, but afaik the current beta does.
I currently use it at home and a fully purchased version here at work.
Quite nice, full featured, and can do stateful antivirus, and spam filtering - if those options are purchased. It also does Intrusion Protection, and I believe that it is free in the home license.
I run it on a P2-400 at home, and only the gui is kinda slow. Otherwise I havent done any hardcore thruput testing.
At work it runs on a Xeon 2Ghz, rather overkill, but I use 4x Gig Ethernet nics for eventual maximal thruput.

Cheers
Chris
