nothing beats sneaker-net :-)

buy a decent tape drive, buy about 4 tapes. Set the tape to backup all info
every friday morning. Take the tape home with you when you go :-) If you use
encrypted backups, mail the tape to your pen-pal in Australia for redundancy
:-)

Recycle the tapes every 6 months - and it will still be cheaper than your
bandwidth costs for rsync backup. Also tapes are very reliable.

its simpler if you dont have too much data to backup. If you are sure that
you will not ever need to backup more than 160 Gig at a time, then buy 4
cases and put 160Gig hard drives in all 4 of them and do what you did with
tapes.

Of course, you need to have 'drill' failures and try to restore from backup
at times to be sure of your backup working.

Subject: [clug-talk] [OT] Off Site Backup Options

I am looking for information regarding off site backup, I basically need a
place to RSYNC some data to. Does anyone know of any company that does
this,
I googled it, but am looking for some first hand experience.

Any suggestions, or experiences would be welcomed, I am not even sure if
this
is the right path to go down for off site backups.

Thanks
Nathan
