A contact wants me to set up Suse 9.2 on his rack mount server, which has an Opteron processor. I have the install CDs, but they are apparently the 32 bit version.Well seeing as its a server It shouldn't need to many programs and if you or him have a shaw home connection (dl at 300KB/s to 400KB/s steady or about 1MB/s burst) or better it shouldn't take more than 12 hours to install through FTP, if you start now it should be done by lunch tomorrow.
I've downloaded the minimum install CD, but that's not being too helpful, and an FTP install would take way too long. Are there any other options? Can I install the 32 bit version, then point at a 64 bit install source to upgrade everything? My experience with 64 bit is non-existent at this point, so I'm learning as I go....
Failing that, does anyone have 64 bit installation CDs (not DVDs), and will be attending the PROGSIG meeting tomorrow?
Thanks for any tips.

also most if not all AMD 64 bit chips should be able to fully emulate 32 bit. so you could install it with the discs use it like that or upgrade everything to 64bit but im far less sure on if that is possible but should be (to upgrade).
(ps. A rackmount server - Dell PowerEdge in this case with SCSI drives - is damn loud!)
And DAMN fast!
