I spoke with Dave on this over the phone.  But just in case someone else is 
interested...

When you download the eval ISOs for SLES, there is a page that tells you to do 
the download, and register.  If you register (free), you have a 
username/password you can use for the updates.  This is NOT the same account 
you used to do the download.  I'll let you know in a month if they expire the 
account... :)
