According to the Linux Mag article, they should be recognized just fine and
are the preferred way to go (no reliance on your sound card). I think you
will have more success with a 2.6 kernel but if memory serves a 2.4 will
still fare well. There is a check you can do with dmesg to tell if the
headset will work, look for an entry with HDI in it I believe.
