Travis, you *really* *really* need to start googling for winlogon.exe -- there's a trojaned version out there, i.e. Malware. Use Adaware and Spybot to confirm the presence, then you'll have your work cut out to get rid of it.

If your MS Windows computer slows down a lot, chances are you may have been taken over by Malware. In the past 4 - 6 months, a slew of Spyware, Adware and Invasionware -- collectively termed Malware -- software has appeared on the scene and invaded MS hosts. I have had 5 customers whose computer was taken over that could not just simply be removed. In fact, I had to manually remove the invasion by taking out it's hidden support base.

I use these programs to check and recommend you check your Win2k box:
Adaware from http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/
Spybot from http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

Ok I'm crazy about Linux but i figured that i should get some windows experience so I setup a win 2000 server to play around with. The thing is with Linux I never reboot unless I'm upgrading my kernel or must move the computer but now this windows computer has only been on about 20 days and has slowed down _big_ time! It's just a base install with the sound card disabled, no extra programs or fancy stuff.

The computer that has windows on is a 1Ghz computer and has had Linux on many times before and Linux was never slow (even after 60 days once) the Linux computer beside the windows computer has been on for 21 days with many servers (Espessialy samba) and programs always running and is still as fast as the day it was turned on.

Does windows acctualy need rebooting every few weeks?
