Ok, I skipped most of this thread, but your "floppy only installs" got
me thinking "I can top that in obscurity."  ;-)  The first copy of
Linux a friend gave me was Slackware on a 40 MB Colorado Jumbo tape.
Kernel .99, I think.  :-)  That was somewhere circa 1993, if memory
serves.  Still have the tape somewhere.
