There's a Knoppix hack to create a Kiosk..... Not sure about the AD
though...

I'll look it up and get back to you.....

Subject: [clug-talk] Kiosk Distro

Hi All,

I am googling as I type this but I would like to query other folks out
there. Looking for a simple straight forward Linux distro that either runs
in a kiosk mode or is specifically a kiosk distro.

I don't need anything big like Gnome or KDE and would be just as happy
running a simple window manager like BalckBox or something that. The
project involves a system booting up and loading a webpage in mozilla.
That's it! Hardware being used in a celron 700 and a D-link wireless card
using the Aetoros (not sure of spelling) chipset. Lots of ram and HDD space
so no worries there. WOuld like to find something that is "corporately
freiendly" as it will be mixed in a Windows environment...oh and it would
need to authenticate to an Active Directory environment...

Stuff I have tried/discovered so far:
* Ubuntu Live CD: Very clean environment but could not get WNIC set up.
Might be different in install mode. Runs Gnome and is a little clunky and
slow for what we need it to do.
* KDE Kiosk Mode: I am aware of this but, again I don't need (or necessarily
want) a big bloated window manager.
* LTSP: Looking into this but we don't have a server at this time that it
could be served from so we need the stand alone capability.
* Found this little blurb for someone doing similar:
        /etc/rc.d/rc.init

        #!/bin/bash
        sudo -u user xinit
        shutdown -h

        /home/user/.xinitrc
        fvwm&
        sleep 5
        /usr/bin/myapplication
* Mini-Ditros: Thinking of DSL or something similar that might work.
ANythoughts or ideas?

I would appreciate any help or ideas any could offer.

Cameron
