http://www.ubuntuguide.org/#extrarepositories has a list of the repositories.
I believe ubuntu main support gnome so the KDE stuff is less supported, however, if you do some digging you'll find there is a growing KDE support base out there. Be wary, there are some ubuntu users out there that will tell you to use KDE based Mepis or Knoppix instead.
I too have installed kubuntu on a machine and it is an AWESOME out of the box, (disc,) desktop system. Very easy to install, update and use. Just look at http://www.distrowatch.com/ and see who has made it to #1 in record time.

Going from memory here...
Click repositories, edit, then there should be a couple of checkboxes
for "unsupported software". Click those and it will add the repository
entries for you.

So I got Kubuntu on my laptop last night. Or if you prefer Ubuntu
"Hoary".
After some help from Travis, I got my video resolution fixed up.
Everything looks pretty now. Travis also walked me through some basic
apt-get stuff. I got sshd installed as it only had the OpenSSH client
installed by default.
I was a little disappointed to find that OpenOffice was the office suite
of choice. I am a KOffice fan and it seems sacrilegious to have KDE and
no KOffice. I went into Kynaptic then and was pleased to see meaningful
categories for the software in the Ubuntu repositories. After a quick
search, KOffice was not to be found.
After a Google search I found that it is not included... period. It
sounds like they are considering putting it in but it's not there now.
So am I stuck with installing this from source? Is there a better way?
Also, Ubuntu's hardware detection didn't correctly configure my sound
card... no surprise there, it's finicky on my ToughBook. Can anyone give
me a heads-up on where I might look to find out how to configure sound
in a Debian-based Distro? I have the proper device and settings recorded
so I just need the config tool.
