With all due respect to Barnaby (that is if he is till monitoring us) and his presentation the other day I think it is important to say thanks and to show how the FLOSS comunity contributes in way's we often don't see.
Lisa & I were at WFXWeb picking up a new system for her when a CLUGGITE walked in asking about a car in the parking lot. We said that it was ours and that we knew about the the thing hanging down that we had nicknamed "Flappy." Without thinking this CLUGGITE (I think it was Graham Monk, but I have been doped up on muscle relaxants for a few days so my brain is like putty...putty as in the material not the terminal program)...grabbed a peice of cardboard and a couple of zip-strips and in a few minutes "Flappy" was gone. Only reason we hadn't done it up until now is that we are never home very long anymore. Anyways...thanks to Graham...and to all those other FLOSS'er's out there that contribute silently to advancing FLOSS principles and community. Regards, Cameron & Lisa PS - Just to tie this into Linux. The newer 700Mhz system was being purchased as a replacement for an aging 200Mhz box. The new system will be running WIndows 2000 as its primary OS but will be running a number of open source applications as standard. Lisa has also agreed to dual-boot it with a Linux distro. Also, the 200Mhz box will likely be upgarded a bit an given to my dad (in his 60's) for a solitare-ish box. For both of these I am thinking a WIndows-like distribution so likely something like Lindows, Xandros or something similar.
