This reminds me of windows in plain 640x480 vga that you get dumped into
when trying to set up a video card it doesn't have a driver installed for.

At least you have workarounds and a hope that the KDE devs will rectify this
later on.   Windows you just have to guess at how many times to hit tab
before space and so forth.
