Thanks for the offer!

The exec has been talking about this a fair bit. I do web development for my
day job (one of many roles), so also have the necessary skills. There are a
number of others on the list that also have these skills. The problem is a
matter of timing - any volunteer organization runs into this.

To write a CMS to take care of the features of the current site would be a
relatively small job. But the exec feels we need other services there as
well (in addition to the current features). So the question becomes one of
"do we wait for the 2,3, or 6 months it'll take to write a custom CMS to meet
all of our current and future needs?" Or "do we use a third party tool to
meet most, if not all, of the current needs, that can be implemented right
away?". As a developer I'd favor the first option. As a business person, I
favor the second option... As you can see, it's not a cut and dry type of
thing....

So, we asked the group about this at the meeting the other night. I asked if
anyone had any issues with us using the third party tool, and the consensus
was that they'd be fine with this. BUT, there is an understanding that if
our members want to create a custom CMS for CLUG, we would be willing to move
to this system when it was ready, and could be migrated to easily.

In the next few weeks, I'll be putting in the shell of a new site, containing
the content of the current site, and with extra capabilities. This means
that we'll be able to offer more to our members, but we'll talk about this
more when things are ready.. :)

Thank you very much for your offer - we might still need to do some custom
work, and your skills will come in handy for that.

Shawn
