Get the boot disk image (~650 meg) and boot that from a cd. use ftp to install everything else, so you only download what you install. works well and takes less time in the long run.

Took me 4 days and about 12 gigs uploaded to get SuSE 9.3... So, if you're in a hurry, this may not be the best way to get it.
