Quoting bogi <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

Hello Bogi,

Yes, I have two disks, an old 8 Gig hard drive with some old operating systems
on it and a new 200 Gig hard drive which had files from an old 8 Gig hard drive
copied on to it.

When my brother installed knoppix on the new hard drive it worked just fine, but
when I burned my five libranet 3.0 CD's and then installed them on my new hard
drive the installer said that libranet 3.0 was successfully installed and to
remove the CD and reboot.

When I did reboot I got GRUB loading please wait

and then Error 17.

I then after receiving your reply checked my bios settings and they are as
follows:

Virus warning: Disabled
Processor number feature: Enabledd
Boot form LAN first: Disabled
Boot sequence : CDROM,C,A
VGA Boot from : AGP
Boot Up Floppy Seek: Enabled
Boot Up NumLock Status: On
Memory Parity/ECC check : Disabled
Typematic Rate Setting: Disabled
Typematic Rate: Characters/sec): 6
Typematic Delay (Msec) : 250
Security Option : setup
PCI/VGA Pallette Snoop: Disabled
Assign IRQ for VGA: Enabledd
HDD S.M.A.R.T. capability: Disabled
Report No FDD for Win 95: no

When I saw that HDD S.M.A.R.T. cabability was disabled, I enabled it and took
the CD out of the CDROM drive and saved the new bios settings and let the bios
continue to boot and I still came up with Error 17.

So I went into the bios again and reset HDD S.M.A.R.T. capability back to
disabled and saved the bios settings again and put Knoppix disk back in CD ROM
drive and rebooted and then composed this reply to you and sent it.

Does the above list of bios settings help you to help me get my system working
again?

How do I know whether the bios recognized my new disk and my old disk
correctly?

Regards,

Michael
