Just a quick review of my take on Convergence, for those who might be
interested.

We had approx 3 hours to get our booth setup, and completed in only 1 hour.
This was partly because the booth was relatively simple, and partly because
of all the prep work that Rod Ormon had done.

I had some concerns after the first day. The attendance just didn't seem to
be all that large. That said though, we had enough traffic at our booth to
keep the volunteers busy. And we had no shortage of volunteers on that day.
My concerns were more about if it would be worth the time to do another
convergence if the entire period went the same. Yes we did get to talk to a
number of people, but the volume just didn't really seem to fit with a trade
show. But that changed the next day.

The second day didn't really see a difference in the volume of visitors, but
did see a change in the type of visitors. It seems that this day is when the
various companies/institutions decided to attend and chat with the
exhibitors. I ended up with 6 different business cards from people we very
much want to talk with on various topics - and they approached us. These
cards include representatives from DeVry and UofC, so watch for news about
activities at these locations in the near future. This one point alone made
the entire show very "worth it" to me. But the real news is from the
interest we saw in Linux and CLUG.

A number of people made a point to stop by and ask us about our group. I
fully expect that these people are likely to attend the next few meetings and
begin taking part in our community. Other people were approached by us as
they passed by. Some of this group of people were a little skeptical when we
first started talking, but most seemed to become quite interested as they
learned more about us, and Linux in general.

Overall, the show was well worth the effort, and Rod did a great job of
organizing our part in it. We will likely see an increase in attendance at
the next few meetings as a result.

I want to thank Rod for all his work, and all the volunteers for helping put
things together, organize it, and man the booth.

Shawn
