For linux mount -t smbfs //localhost/share /mnt/point -o username=myuser In both cases either samba or windows file sharing must be disabled on the workstation you are ssh-ing from. I have not had to do this in a while. I actually cheat a little now. I use shfs to mount the ssh server to a path on my workstation, then use samba or NFS mounts in subdirectories from there (on the remote ssh machine).
