I find that Suse is a good choice for both personal and business purposes. I've recently tried out Fedora Core and didn't really like it (my own opinion though). I've heard Linspire is great for a desktop system, but haven't tried it out myself yet (there's a LiveCD apparently, so maybe soon).
This is VERY much like asking you to choose your favorite color (or favorite car manufacturer/model - I use this analogy more often). The only real way for you to decide what works for you, is to try them all out. I think a lot of us are creatures of habit too though - we'll likely stick with the first one that "works" for us. For me that was Gentoo - their documentation made all the difference for me. Even though I try out other distros, I keep coming back to Gentoo because it's where I'm most comfortable/familiar. I've seen others do the same thing. Of course, there's enough similarities with Linux in general, and GUI interfaces that using another *nix based system isn't going to be too difficult.
