I use the following from Telus: 

nameserver 198.80.55.1
nameserver 198.161.156.1

and very rarely have a problem with them. I think they've been down once in 5 
years. These DNS servers are in Calgary (part of the original AGT network), 
and I have them assigned manually. You normally do not pick up these DNS 
servers if you are receiving DHCP addy's from Telus. They usually assign you 
their DNS servers from Vancouver and I've had lots of problems with them.

No - but with the strike on you will probably be on the phone a loooooong 
time.
