There are quite a lot of opinions on this. I don't usually bother with a seperate /home as most users won't have an actual account on the box (email, samba, ftp/sftp etc is better with LDAP) I also prefer reiser to ext3, but either is a good choice. > > I have been told 'swat' is a good gui for configuring samba config, for the > unfamiliar. Active Directory is huge. I am sure you have heard this before, but it all depends on what you *need*. If you have not used any of the LDAP functions of AD, then chances are you may not need to worry about openLDAP. HAving said that I picked up a good book on migrating from Windows to Linux on the server. This book was very good in that it did not expect a high level of linux experience, but it did not try to avoid things like LDAP. I forgot what the exact title was, but I will check when I get home. > > I was testing Suse9.3 Enterprise at home, the os doesn't tell me how many > days are left before it quits on me?
