To bring this into a Linux prospective... I am at my new job and have make a suggestion for using IM. The company wants to avoid something like MSN or its ilk, and so my suggestion was to look at something like Jabber that would be only within our domain and possibly some WAN connections from authorized sources.
We are currently running a pseudo file server on the Exchange server and my tech boss is open using Linux for some things. One of the things we were looking at is setting up a file server and possibly running Jabber off of that. Down the road we are looking at a more robust firewall solution as well....my suggestion....guess! ;-) ANyways...anyone have some success/caution/examples/etc. on setting up a Jabber server and perhaps suggestions for a Fairly feature rich Clients. At this point it is a WIndows shop...so any suggestions should take that into consideration. I should be at the meeting tonight so if anybody wants to chat there I will definately appreciate the input.
