Hello All and especially bogi, I did an ls -l on the tmp directory and various other directories to see what space was available in the directories but found out that the answers I got was not the amount of space used in the directories and subdirectories.
How do I find out how much space is used in my michael home directory and how do I find out how much space is available in the tmp directory and how do I change how much is available in my tmp directory? I found out that one jpg in my mudry subdirectory had 433766 bytes in it and that another picture that was not stitched together had 109290 bytes in it. I take it that if I could resize the tmp directory I might be able to tar and possibly zip my home directory in michael. Then perhaps I could burn the tarred and zipped file to a CD. I tried finding out the man page on the ls command and could not figure out everything I need to know about the meaning of the numbers under an ls -l command. If I need to repartition my hard drive to do this, how do I do that?
