The second card is a standard PC-tuner card, supported by stock kernels (ie from kernel.org, not Red Hat or SuSe or some other abomination)
The hardware is the least difficult part, and the basics apply to almost all the hardware out there, though I would stay away from USB tuners and anything by ATI. Most of the presentation will be spent on getting the basic Mythtv PVR up and running. There are a ton of plugins, from web front ends (setting recording schedules, deleting recorded programs etc), VoIP, games, console emulators and so on. There will not be time to cover everything that MythTV is. I will go through building the drivers for the hauppauge line of cards, which is incidentally what I am using. > On November 15, 2005 22:23, Shawn wrote: > >>Gustin has kindly agreed to do a presentation on setting up a Personal >>Video Recorder with Myth TV. >> >>I'm tempted to pickup a video capture card so I can try this out... :) >> >>Shawn > > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.1 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFDe7xWwRXgH3rKGfMRAo7kAJ4zYKMdw6DZePq8cS6ZMP0ndU9rXQCdFdd+ bAus1jog2Qa38lxdo/zLqI4= =OuNA -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
