This may seem naive on my part but if Microsoft really wants to show how
well it wants to play with open-source then perhaps they could look at
releasing the patent on this...or whatever it is called when companies
give one of their patents to the community.

Just goes to show what a stink-load of money can buy you.  Would be nice
to see someone with big bucks (other than IBM & Novell) start fighting
for open source and start throwing some marketing clout behind it.
Hmmm....lets see what we can do to convert Steve Balmer kids? ;-)

I would be interested in seeing what Barnaby has to say on this.  Seeing
as Bill & Steve sign his cheques I would imagine he has to tow the party
line, but seeing as he came from open source It would be interesting.
