I'm running Gentoo on my Toshiba laptop, the X700 works better than my previous GeForce 4 card (nvidia's drivers went to hell, it worked until I "upgrded". Lots of similar stories on Google.) X700 Drivers weren't difficult to install & I have full 3D.
