Also have a look at BAMNET - http://www.bamnet.com/tollfreeisp/index.asp .
Shaw did a deal with tollfreeisp which was a dial up internet provider who
provided metered dialup. This was great for Shaw customers who travel and
can't get high speed or wireless. I used them for the introductory offer of
10 hours or so, and it worked well (for dial up ;>) ) . Looks like they went
under and a new similar service is picking up the pieces. They have a free
introductory offer. I think I'll give them a try myself.

=0 Wow, thank you all for your input. I originally chose netzero because it was free, but they have a rather invasive sign up process. I'll look into some of these other isp's. I'm assuming at least some of them dont require you to use custom software, which is a big plus.
I remember Calcna, they used to be the Calgary Freenet. Once upon a time, the only way i could get on the internet was through their dial up service. I beleive they're attached to the Barrier Project, which helps furnish people that have a low income with donated pc's.
I'm quite glad to be on shaw's cable modem service now. My roommate downloaded 13 megs in about a minute or two just the other day.
