As much as it sucks, I have stopped accepting and forwarding mail on my
residential connection. Too many headaches caused by inexperienced mail
admins, and relying on Shaw and or Telus is not my idea of a good time.
Any mail that needs to be sent from my home LAN (really only logcheck),
connects to my business mail server, using TLS and SMTP auth. In exims
config it is referred to as "smart host".

Mail delays are Shaw's middle name. You will likely have to put up with
it or find someone that you can use as a relay.

This may not apply to you, but for less than the cost of a Shaw or telus
business connection, you can often lease a server. I am not even sure
if Shaw's business IP blocks can be differentiated from their
residential. I know that my telus connection is not black listed, but
it wasn't cheap (compared to regular DSL/Cable, not compared to local
co-lo costs which seem high for the lack of bandwidth that you get).
