Another thought that just popped into my head : Could be the PHP configuration. This way of installation will not use the customized one from Kolab, but the system one yes? ... that's my understanding anyways. Could be having to do with $register_globals, or the cookie settings in php.ini. I really can't say ... several needles ... multiple haystacks.
