I have been a big fan of PHP and CMS for a long time now, almost as long as I have been a Linux user. I run many sites off my server using virtual hosting. I recently created my on Linux distribution based on Debian, I call it Canux. I am running my on deb repository server so to help make virtual hosting easy for others I started http://phpcms.ca.

I have prepackaged CMS for eGroupWare, Joomla and PHP-Nuke. These are not the stock packages you can download. I have modified them to work on a virtual host server so that a single source tree can serve many sites. I created patch files and have submitted them to the authors of these programs for consideration.

If anyone would like to try one of the CMS packages the steps are very easy. I have only tested this with Canux and Knoppix 4.0.2 but it should work for any Debian. I will be testing with Ubuntu later today. Please test with your favourite Debian. This is still in early testing so do not do this on a system you cannot afford to loose.

1) Install a Debian on a new server
2) Download http://canux.silicontao.com/deb/sources.list
3) Move original sources.list file (/etc/apt/sources.list) to a safe place
4) Put the new sources.list file into /etc/apt
5) Run "apt-get update"
6) Run "apt-get vcms-joomla" or "apt-get vcms-phpnuke" or "apt-get vcms-egroupware"

I would like to look at adding Drupal to the line up of virtual hosting CMS packages. My time is stretched to the limit. Would anyone care to assist me with this?
