I have a setup similar to this. Basically the l=shaped desk, a d-top, a corner shelf and a bookshelf. think half of the l-shaped hutch and almost twice as high in the corner.. I have had this for about 5 or so years and have had very little trouble on it. I have even stood.. or balanced myself on the desktop. I believe it is a inch thick, and I think very durable.
