It depends, likely for the average end user, it looks like a step in a good direction. For those of use using Jack for media production, I worry that it will be something else that gets in the way. You don't currently need aRTS. Personally I disable arts and use things like the xine engine or gstreamer for audio rendering in apps like Amarok. Xine can be configured to use Alsa (by configured I mean you click on a checkbox) which allows the sound device to be shared.
