Yup thats correct. Substitute eth0 for the interface name.

I presume that if you have more than one network card (one wired and one
wireless), ifconfig would tell you the ip addresses for eth0 and eth1
(it doesn't do that for me right now as it does not see the wireless card).

I assume that ifdown eth0 releases the ip lease and ifup eth0 renews the
ip lease from the dhcp server.
