Hi All, I've been pinging Shawn on this a bit, but thought I would ask the group for help as well.
My massively huge and shiny new Dell Inspiron 9400 has an Intel 3945 wifi card in it. There are about three different sites on the Internet that show how to install the native Intel Linux drivers for said card. I went through every tutorial and site I could find last night, but I can't quite close the deal. Here's where I'm at on my FC5 machine (can you believe Kubuntu wouldn't even boot?!?) I have installed the ieee80211 framework I have installed the Intel ipw3945 drivers from the Intel site I have dep'modded the ipw3945 module, and put the proper line in my module.conf.local (might not have that name quite right) to load it at boot A dmesg | grep ipw shows that card is detected by proper name and model A ps aux | grep ipw shows the daemon (ipw3945d) is running Ifconfig shows only the lo interface Iwconfig shows l0, eth0 and sit0 but 'no wireless extensions' beside all of them. FC's network configuration GUI (neat) won't show me the card when I try to create a new wireless interface (likely because it's not aware that it's a wireless card). So I think I'm close, but the problem seems to be that while the card seems to load at boot, FC can't see it. Any ideas?
