Hi All, My new Inspiron is behaving almost flawlessly. Suspend is working, I've got the proper ATI drivers installed, even the front media keys are working. One of the last little things that's driving me nuts is that KDE pauses when I switch desktops.
It's a significant delay of about 5 seconds when the windows on the desktop that I just switched to are unresponsive and they do not have any borders or menu bars on them. After the 5 seconds, the borders and menu bars reappear and then the windows all become responsive. The system itself doesn't lock up. If I have music playing in XMMS, for example, it continues to play and I can move the mouse pointer around during the pause. I've thought of the obvious things like big fat wallpapers, but I'm running with no wallpaper at all now and it's still happening. I see from a Google search that this was a problem back in KDE 3.2 (I've got 3.5.2 on Kubuntu Flight 7 completely updated). Anyone have any bright ideas? One of the coolest things about Linux is the multiple desktops. I hate not being able to use them correctly. Thanks!
