Even with the ndiswrapper drivers, on the rare occasion that I have problems, rmmod ndiswrapper && modprobe ndiswrapper is all I need to do. To bring this back to the original post, I really like my Compaq presario V2000 (14" laptop). I also really hate ATI. I like the small form factor, linux screams on this things (64bit Turion), but the card reader does not work, and you need to jump through a couple of hoops to get ndiswrapper working.
